What people say about working together

I help startups and social change organisations with their content marketing. Below is some feedback from people I’ve worked closely with. If you’re interested in working together, please contact adele@copyand.co

Evgeny Shadchnev, Founder of Makers

“Adele has been the driving force and the voice behind Makers brand for years. She knows how to find the perfect words to express our brand, and has the determination and work ethic to truly excel. I wouldn’t hesitate to work with Adele again, given the chance!”

Alex Bailey, Head of Marketing at Makers

“No content strategy challenge is too big for Adele. Calm, collected and can-do, I would recommend working with her in any capacity if you’re looking to tell better stories about your business.”

Asha Haji, Co-Founder of Framework

“It’s an absolute delight working with Adele. She’s incredibly responsive, flexible and provided great work for us when we needed it.”

Catherine Chi, UX Design Lead at Vodafone

“I really love working with Adele, as a project manager she has always been very clear and her positive attitude is infectious.”

Oliver Codrington, Founder of Balance Group

“Adele is clearly very knowledgeable, especially in the now business-critical areas of social media and ‘tribe’ engagement. Not to be underestimated, Adele is a real asset, if you are lucky enough to work with her.”

Sharing stories for tomorrow’s world

Over the past 15+ years, I've worked with marketing teams and creative freelancers all over the world on a broad range of projects. What they all have in common is a desire to challenge the status quo through sharing stories that resonate.

From strategising with senior leaders at global organisations like Virgin to directing social media videos for fast-growing scaleups like Makers, I’ve consistently demonstrated an ability to envision the bigger picture while delving into the details.

Copy & Co

I launched specialist content studio Copy & Co in early 2021 to help forward-thinking organisations with their marketing. We’ve served over 65 startups, VC funds and PR agencies in London, New York and beyond, including some of the world’s leading startup brands, such as Y Combinator and Founders Forum.

B Lab

I helped B Lab UK as a communications consultant to develop and deliver a campaign with the aim of increasing diversity in their community, especially among female-founded and Black-owned businesses, while raising awareness about B Corp Certification and its business benefits.

Makers

Makers is a UK coding bootcamp championing diversity in tech. For several years, I led content & comms, including end-to-end B2B and B2C marketing campaigns for signature products and new offerings, collateral and copy production, and media relations. I managed a team of freelancers, with our videos gaining over half a million YouTube views during my time there.

Women in Software

With Makers, I co-founded the UK’s first Women in Software Power List, celebrating rising stars in the UK's coding community. Published in ComputerWeekly, this campaign broke multiple social media records for Makers and reinforced its dedication to fostering greater diversity in the tech sector of the future.

AllBright

AllBright is a global community connecting women through digital and physical spaces, driving change for women in business. In late 2017, I assisted with lead generation for the launch of their first physical club and online academy, which involved producing educational content for their social media, blog, and website.

Escape the City

As one of Escape the City’s first employees, I led community channels and partnerships, producing content and events, and spearheading The Escape School by designing and delivering workshop products. Community members tripled from 60,000 to +185,000 during my several years there. I also assisted with The Escape Manifesto book, published by Wiley.

Peace One Day

I led the digital division of a global peace initiative supported by the United Nations, increasing web traffic and Facebook fan base by 18% within six months. This included producing a video of General Secretary Ban Ki-moon at UN headquarters. Leading a team of four, I ran a multi-channel content campaign in collaboration with Blue State Digital (President Obama’s digital agency).

Lexoo

A legal tech startup backed by Forward Partners, I joined Lexoo in its early phase to boost its content strategy and production. By creating a series of SEO-optimised landing pages and using A/B testing along with data-driven refinements, we saw a significant uptick in conversions over a six-month period.

Virgin Unite

Virgin Unite is the working name of The Virgin Foundation, the independent charitable arm of the Virgin Group. In 2016, I worked with Virgin Unite’s Special Projects team on an internal content project — a comprehensive landscaping piece to feed into a potential new initiative.

Virgin Pure

A startup in the Virgin Group, Virgin Pure reduces plastic water bottle usage by providing WaterBars that turn tap water into great-tasting pure water. I defined the company purpose, core values, and brand in partnership with the CEO and the Virgin Global Marketing Director and led on content, copy and design, including a full rebrand.

General Assembly

In early 2012, as the global coding bootcamp General Assembly laid the groundwork for its UK launch, I collaborated with startup veteran Rob Fitzpatrick on initial events and brand awareness campaigns. As a team of two, we expanded General Assembly’s launch email list to 6,000 subscribers through the content and events we produced.

NZTE

New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) is the government agency helping New Zealand businesses grow internationally. In 2010, I led a team of freelancers to produce an e-book showcasing the stories of prominent Kiwi business owners on the global stage, which was viewed over 39,000 times.

Xero

I produced a range of research and content projects for the accounting software firm Xero from 2008 to 2009. This included educational content for their SME customers, as well as co-authoring and publishing a report on Encouraging Small Businesses in collaboration with Xero CEO Rod Drury.

yMedia

In 2007, I spent several years as the co-founder of an award-winning social enterprise in New Zealand that partnered with Microsoft, IBM, and Saatchi & Saatchi. yMedia was a national leader in its space and produced a series of digital campaigns for charities and non-profit organisations, including Waste Resource Trust Waiheke, Alzheimers New Zealand, and StarJam.
